In the hall .... Only “Maverick” is still in the corner, waiting for their splashdown. However, this can take a few weeks.
Dreading for months before removal of the rudder. I have something far only with the old “Maverick” made and already in the 27-foot boat that was a sweaty work, when she went ashore in the Caribbean. Everything was festgegammelt and I just do not get the shaft out of the fuselage.
Fortunately, I have time “Ricky”, the driver of the travel lift at St. Lucia, and his buddy came to help and have beaten with the special tool and a powerful thicknesses hammer the rudder from the fuselage. For this, the ship had to be jacked up very high - because the rudder is not exactly short. Alternative: Dig a hole.
So I did not much feel like this strenuous work and am already assumed, that it is necessary, to bring the ship out of the hall again, to lift and then pull the oar. But surprisingly it all went down within an hour before the spot.
After I had removed the pushrod (certainly the first time after 1972, the year ...), I only needed to solve the large nut on the shaft - and hey presto, was loose the rudder. Still below the second, lower rudder bearing from the skeg screw and bang, slipped the monster (secure 50 Kilos) Tiefe.
The rest of the afternoon was spent, free cut the laminated by the shipyard seacocks.
